From the soulful gospel sounds of the Shiloh Baptist Church on Ray Charles’ Avenue in Greenville to the platinum records on the wall at Miami’s Criteria Studios to the tropical paradise of Jimmy Buffet’s Key West, Hit the Road Jack! is a one-hour documentary film that celebrates the Sunshine State’s place in rock ‘n’ roll history by taking viewers on a road trip through Florida’s legendary (and in some cases notorious) rock ‘n’ roll landmarks.
Hit the Road Jack: Online! brings the adventure to the classroom, with a series of Web-based curriculum components that offer students in grades 6-12 an exciting opportunity to participate in the filmmaking process while learning about Florida history in a rock ‘n’ roll-themed, interactive environment!
